Student Wellbeing
Student Wellbeing is at the core of what we are about at Le Chéile Secondary School, Ballincollig.
We firmly believe that if our students are happy, then everything else will fall into place and academic achievement will flourish.
- A Junior Cycle Wellbeing programme which incorporates Physical Education, Social Personal Health Education (SPHE), Civic Social Political Education (CSPE) and Wellbeing as a subject (this incorporates modules such as Transitioning to Secondary School, Digital Literacy, STEAM - Science / Technology / Engineering / Arts / Mathematics, Yoga, Mindfulness.)
- Positive Code of Behaviour: we place more of an emphasis on what the students do well rather than what they do not so well and are awarded accordingly.
- Academic Mentor: All 3rd and 6th year students will have a teacher with whom they will meet on a one-to-one basis throughout the year to check in with them.
- Whole-school charity fundraisers: There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up - John Holmes
- Fun events run by the students: Ideas from our students are embraced and welcomed - Feel Good Friday, Mindful Minutes, Lunch-time activities
- An activity day and a Sports Day: Two great days at the beginning and end of the year that always lift spirits. An activity day and a Sports Day: Two great days at the beginning and end of the year that always lift spirits.
